The kids are alright so they don’t need any adult supervision. That ’90s Show follows the next generation of the teens of Point Place, Wisconsin after the events of That ’70s Show— and some key players to the latter show might be missing.
The first season of the Netflix spinoff ends with Leia (Callie Haverda), the daughter of Eric Foreman and Donna Pinciotti, having a big fight with Jay (Mace Colonel), the son of Michael Kelso and Jackie Burkhart. The two stirred up a romance, but everything fell apart when Leia tried to kiss her next-door neighbor Nate. Fast forward a year later, the gang is trying to make amends while also having the best summer ever.
The That ’70s Show alum had some memorable cameos in the first season, with the exception of Hyde. One eye-grabbing couple who returned to the sequel was indeed Kelso and Jackie during the pilot. But, will they return for another summer? Apparently, they aren’t.
Why Is Kelso Not in That ’90s Show Season 2?
When Entertainment Tonight asked if she and Ashton Kutcher were going to make an appearance in the second season, Mila Kunis said, “No.” She laughed and explained, “I mean, we did our thing, and I think they introduced the son, right? It was our son in the show. That was, you know…”
Just like their own characters on the show, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are married and together in real life. They didn’t get together while they were on the show because they didn’t have feelings and Mila was 14 when she was cast in the role.
Kunis recalled their reunion during a July 2018 appearance on the WTF podcast. “I did a movie called Friends With Benefits. [Ashton] did a movie that was very similar: No Strings Attached. We lived our movies out, where we were like, ‘Let’s just hook up. Let’s have fun. We’re both single. We both trust each other. Everything’s great.’ None of us wanted tension. OK, great. We hooked up for three months. And just like our movies, one of us caught feelings.” The couple got engaged in February 2014 and tied the knot in a private ceremony in July 2015. They have two children together, a daughter named Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher and a son named Dimitri Portwood Kutcher.
“The thing about Mila that made our relationship accelerate was that I had always admired her,” Kutcher told Esquire. “Her talents, her skills, her gifts. But I knew that she didn’t need me. And she knew that I didn’t need her.”
Though they appeared on the OG show together in a different context, nerves crept up Mila Kunis. “I was more nervous doing that than anything else in my career – to shoot with my husband on the set of That ‘70s show,” she admitted. “Because the set is exactly the same.”
She continued: “To be married but to be at the place where we met—and it looks the same—was trippy. We walked on set, and I was like, ‘Oh, this is weird.’ It was really weird. I would look at my husband while we were doing a scene or rehearsing and be like ‘Oh my God, that’s what you look like when you act.’”
