The tennis player has been tangled in dating rumors with basketball legend Jimmy Butler, but she dispelled those pretty quickly by saying their just friends. Though Jimmy has supported her in the court stands, her boyfriend is aiming to support her as well for her summer games. My boyfriend, he’ll probably come to maybe some tournaments in the U.S.,” Gauff told People.
After she won the US Open in 2023, she talked about how their late night conversations helped her win the tournament. “I just called my boyfriend, and I told him let’s talk until it’s time to go to sleep,” Gauff told reporters, “so we spoke until 1 a.m. and then I went to sleep.”

Coco Gauff hasn’t revealed the identity of her boyfriend, yet. In an interview with Vogue, Coco talked about he’s just a normal guy and how fans found out about who he really is.
“He’s a very nice guy,” she told the publication. “He’s in school now. He’s about to apply for music school. He wants to be an actor and he plays the guitar. He’s not from Delray. He’s actually from Atlanta. And actually, um, I will say this: People on Twitter found him two or three days ago. I won’t respond and confirm if it’s him or not, but they caught me in the comments, so they know. Some people thought it was someone in tennis and that couldn’t be further from the truth.”

In the background of the Challengers hype, Coco revealed that she’s relieved her boyfriend isn’t a tennis player. “I told my boyfriend, ‘Thank God you don’t play tennis,’ because [Tashi Duncan is] right, I would not want to date a scrub on tour,” Gauff said via an Instagram post from ESPNW. Gauff later reeled in her statement, “I was joking bruh 😭😭 plz don’t take this seriously,” she wrote in the comment section of the post.
Fans are speculating that her boyfriend is Jalen Sera, a rising musician from Atlanta. In one of his Instagram photos, Coco commented, “shoutout to the photographer” and “flower grown ♾️.”
Even in private, Coco aims to cherish his presence. “This is my first real relationship,” Gauff told Time. “To just have someone to talk to who is not involved in tennis at all gives me a fresh perspective.” She even revealed that her mom was his fourth grade teacher. ““My mom always said, if they’re bad in school, they’re probably bad as adults,” says her mom Candi. “He’s always been a smart, nice kid.”
