Graphic Designer / Social Media Assistant
Brand Summary: The Small Things Blog website and its social channels have been a go-to resource for women looking for a professional they can trust regarding beauty how-to’s and advice. Kate Bryan founded the website in 2011 and has been the lead creative in developing easy-to-follow, digestible beauty tips, tricks, and recommendations. The brand speaks primarily to women in their late 20s to 40s who value classic style, appreciate approachable beauty, and enjoy the process of creating looks they feel most comfortable in.
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join our team as a Graphic Designer / Social Media Assistant. In this role, you will be in charge of creating visually appealing and engaging graphics for various social media platforms. You will be responsible for supporting the team in operational tasks, from assisting in aspects of content creation to newsletter management and daily operations. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of graphic design, excellent communication and organizational skills, and an eye for detail.
Responsibilities:
1. Graphic Design:
Create high-quality, visually appealing, and engaging graphics for social media platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, and LTK.
Develop engaging and sharable content, including images, collages, infographics, and other visual elements as needed.
Brainstorm with the team regarding visual ideas that support strategic goals and enhance brand aesthetics.
Ensure consistency in brand messaging and visual identity across all social media channels.
2. Social Media Administrative Support:
Provide support in the creation, editing, and publishing of assets as needed, including content to LTK, the Blog, Pinterest, and various other social platforms.
Stay informed on social media trends, tools, and best practices and apply relevant learnings to social media strategy.
Assist in creating and managing ongoing strategy on Facebook, Pinterest, and LTK.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience as a graphic designer, with a strong portfolio of social media designs.
Proficient in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, etc.)
Solid understanding of design principles, color theory, and branding.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Strong work ethic and commitment to meeting deadlines.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
Must be a task-oriented self-starter who is proactive in assessing the needs of the business.
Ability to adapt to changing trends and technologies in the social media landscape.
Creative mindset with the ability to generate and share innovative ideas.
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity using Canva.
Photography skills are desirable but not necessary.
Understanding of WordPress, LTK, and Mailchimp (or other newsletter software).

Location: Raleigh or surrounding area (please note, this is not a solely remote position)
Job Type: Part-time, hourly (with the potential to transition to salaried), mostly daytime weekly hours but must be open and flexible to rare hours outside of a typical workday.
Compensation Range: $24 – $28 / hour (dependent upon experience)
