After rekindling their romance officially in 2023, the parents -to-be will be tying the knot soon and welcoming their first child together. Grammy award winning multi-platinum singer, songwriter, actress opens up about her first pregnancy with Entertainment Tonight after announcing her engagement to Nelly.
“Never in a million years did I think we would be here,” Ashanti told ET. “Ten years ago — maybe yes — but after our breakup, you know, I didn’t even think we’d ever have a conversation again.” But things worked out. Ashanti told ET that she’s hoping to have a beachside wedding: “I think it’s gonna be a combination of fashion, glam, Caribbean vibes. Like I have to have like a beach, an ocean, sunshine and palm trees,” she said of how she envisions the big day”.

Despite rumors swirling about the couple expecting a baby, Ashanti revealed to ET that neither she nor her partner were aware of her pregnancy at the time, chalking it up to a mere coincidence.
“When he blurted that out on the stage, we actually did not know. I hadn’t even taken a test at that time,” she reveals. She goes on to explain that there was no showing belly that she placed her hands on, she was just trying to adjust the pendant on her black dress.- ADVERTISEMENT –

The singer expressed her joy and shared the details of her engagement with Entertainment Tonight, which was revealed in April along with the exciting news of Ashanti’s pregnancy. She described the experience as “beautiful” and “intimate.”
“We were not dressy,” she said, adding that the pair were in bed and in their PJs watching TV, with her in one of his T-shirts and boxers, when he popped the question.
“I cried. I gave him the biggest hug and kiss ever,” Ashanti shared. “I FaceTimed everyone I know … I was overjoyed and shocked and surprised and happy kind of like all in one.”
Ashanti and Nelly are on cloud nine as they embark on the beautiful journey of parenthood together. Their families are growing, and they couldn’t be happier. Ashanti has been spreading her joy on social media, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for them!
