As you know already the Too Faced Holiday 2024 Makeup Collection has launched and we’re either getting more of this collection as the Holiday draws nearer or this is it and if so, well, Jerrod’s footprint is absolutely not on this one.
As you well know Jerrod Blandino is co-founder of Too Faced Cosmetics but in 2016 he sold the brand to Estee Lauder for 1.45 billion dollars. As with most sales like this the founder almost always promises to be part of the brand forever and ever and tells us how nothing will change. But you know how Mufasa tells Simba, “Everything the light touches is our Kingdom” and Simba asks, “What about the shadowy place?” Well, the shadowy place is likely Estee Lauder land and the place where makeup brands go to die. No but seriously, everything Estee Lauder touches is not a Kingdom of light and gold. When they take over a brand they completely ruin it in my opinion. Estee Lauder owns over 20 brands some of which they’ve paid a crazy amount of money for and each one of them they have absolutely ripped apart by reformulating and repackaging products we know and love and in some cases even making prices higher. It’s a classic case of paying more and getting less quality. Oddly, their own name brand still remains good quality.
Jerrod left Too Faced in 2022 with a fond farewell and a see you late and a few short years later he created Polite Society which is a new makeup brand in its infancy.
Don’t quote me, it’s merely speculation on my part, but I do imagine that Jerrod likely had some hand in the Too Faced Holiday 2023 Collection. It takes well over a year to create a collection and considering he left in May 2022 there’s a strong chance he still had some hand in the Too Faced Holiday 2023 Collection. Why am I telling you all this? Because last year, it might have been repetitive, but we still got a rather cutesy Holiday launch and this year, well this year reeks Estee Lauder was involved and decided to cheapen things up.
I wasn’t in love with the Too Faced Appley In Love Eyeshadow Palette which launched for Fall 2024 but it was still a very promising launch that brought hope for a fun Holiday 2024 launch. But the Holiday 2024 Collection has arrived and it’s pretty dismal and sad.
The collection includes two five shade eyeshadow palettes inspired by “jewels”. I want to pat your back and say don’t worry we’ll probably get some bigger eyeshadow palette release and perhaps an exclusive set or two from Sephora and Ulta like years past. But I’m really not so sure about that. There’s a big possibility this is all we’re getting. They also, released a Bauble Gloss Ring which appears to be plastic. I mean, I haven’t seen it yet but the promo images make it seem like plastic? Also, how old are we that we’re going around with plastic gloss rings? I think maybe their demographic age has changed dramatically if they are giving us plastic gloss rings now. Granted, I’ve gotten older and Too Faced isn’t exactly my go to brand of choice at my age but it was a fav of mine 10-15 years ago and it was appealing to those in their twenties or even mid twenties. But not sure if twenty year olds are running around with plastic gloss rings…! Take a look at the collection below and let me know your thoughts! Below I featured some of the more interesting parts of the collection but there are the regular round of mascara and lipgloss sets available as well with this launch.
