Tatcha The Silk Sunscreen SPF 50 Weightless Mineral Sunscreen is amazing but I’m thanking the beauty gods today it has been repackaged in a new bottle but will that prevent it from exploding now?
This formula truly is a beautiful sunscreen. It’s light, creamy, blends beautifully, wears well under makeup, but the bottle explodes. I didn’t have issues with my bottle the first few times I used it but as time went on it became messier and messier to use. The original bottle is a small, squat little square with a needle nose applicator. For some reason or another the sunscreen would gather at the top of the bottle and just explode out of that little needle nose applicator every single top I opened it. I think it was just trapping air on the bottom of the bottle and when I’d replace the lid that air would remain trapped. When I opened it it would act like a little shotgun and just squirt sunscreen everywhere as soon as I applied the smallest squeeze to the bottle.
It was messy to say the least. Tatcha has repackaged the Silk Suncreen in a longer, taller bottle. I don’t technically know if this is going to help all that much as it seems like it’s the same packaging just in a taller bottle. But who knows, maybe that length of the bottle will prevent air getting trapped inside it and causing that exploding action I experienced with the original bottle.
Sadly, this new packaging does bring a price change. It’s still 1.7 oz in size but instead of $60 it’s now $64 on tatcha.com and oddly, $62 at sephora.com! I’ll buy it when it goes on sale to see how the new bottle checks out. I’ve never repurchased it because of the issues I’ve had with the original bottle but if this new bottle works out I’ll happily pay the uptick in price as I do love this formula.
Have you experienced issues with the original Tatcha The Silk Sunscreen? Excited for the new one?
