Greetings, dear readers! It feels like it has been forever since I’ve written on the blog! If you follow me on IG, you may have seen that I had a running injury last month that required almost immediate surgery. Needless to say, I had no time to prep anything in advance, and as I was already immobile prior to my surgery combined with fighting with insurance to even get what I needed fixed, I got absolutely nothing done.So where am I now?I’ll be four weeks out of surgery after tomorrow! I still have to use crutches and am not permitted to bear any weight on my knee for at least several more weeks. It funny to think I once thought as long as I had crutches I could still do things normally, but now I don’t know if I want to laugh or groan at my ignorance. In spite of the difficulties and my limitations, I am still doing the best I can. Maybe I’m being overly optimistic, but I think I will still be able to get at least two posts up a week now that I’ve got some sort of system in place. Obviously things may change, especially once I’m permitted to do more by my doctor and my physical therapy starts really kicking my butt. Until then, I hope you’ll still stick around with me and please cross your fingers that the surgery and my healing is successful! Now let’s get into the pan project I want to do this year!I have A LOT of makeup. There, I said it. I don’t regret it in the least, but it does mean that I never finish up most of my products, especially palettes. For 2021, I decided to select a few of my products to focus on using and hitting pan. They won’t be the only products I use this year – I definitely have commitment issues when it comes to makeup – but I intentionally selected these products to give me some options as well as staple shades that can be incorporated with other looks. That’s the plan, at least! I’m really hoping to make a large dent in these so that they are finished off and can be tossed at the end of the year.Let’s get a closer look at what I picked!I picked this palette because it has a variety of colourful mattes and I just haven’t used it anywhere near enough! I purchased this palette because I was excited about the colours and I loved the burger design of the packaging, but I now have a love/hate relationship with it. As fun as the burger may be, this palette is bulky and feels overwhelming just by the sheer size in my hand, even though there are only 16 shades. Also, maybe I’m just old and grumpy (ok, I KNOW I’m old and grumpy), but this palette makes me feel a little immature to own and carry around. I’m hoping to push past that this year and give it some more love this year. As you can see from this photo, there has been some leakage from the foiled shades, and while this isn’t a safety concern, it does mean that the quality is going to change the more it continues. In truth I seriously doubt I’ll empty this palette fully this year, but I should give it enough use that I’m ok with tossing it the end of December.I was gifted this palette about a year ago, and while I do love the colours, it’s only been pulled out and used a handful of times. While Glamlite’s Burger Palette was selected for it’s brights, this beauty by BH Cosmetics was selected to give me lots of neutral options with the added bonus of a moody twist. I can actually see every one of these shades getting some use, and I love that there are both some cool and warm options. There is a little bit of overlap in general in the look of some shades between this and my other selections, although that’s fairly consistent with a lot of my collection! I may have to play around with my similar shades for some pretty monochromatic looks! This palette is what inspired me to create this challenge for myself this year! As you can see, Nomad’s Tuscany Palette has already received a lot of love already; it’s the only palette I have used this much in recent years! I had kept it in a drawer at my makeup station as I found the shades handy to add in with other colours in addition to being an easy standalone palette. I already know I’ll be sad when this palette is empty and tossed, but I’m hoping to stumble across my next “staple palette” at some point this year to fill the gap when this is eventually gone. I figure worst case scenario I can always pick up a replacement, right? Ha!In addition to these eyeshadow palettes, I have also selected two blush options to add to this year’s panning project. While I have collected a variety of eyeshadow palettes, the same cannot be said about blush products. I definitely have a couple, but blush is surprisingly one of the products I have some loyalty. I loved this blush shade by Borghese and bought a couple backups of it. The first one is long gone and I’ve been slowly working on this one, officially known as backup #1. As I do have another one in the lineup and have slowly added a few more blushes to my stash, I figured it is time to finish up my current open one. The downside to this is Borghese has apparently retired this from their cosmetics lineup. At least it’s a shade I should be able to find an acceptable replacement in the future without any trouble!I recently discovered a love of creme blushers, but there is a downside to them: they don’t have the longevity of powder products! This one has clearly gotten some use, but I’d like to get more use out of it before it goes bad. While BYS products are very affordable, there’s no reason for me to let it go bad and not get more wear time out of it! Some of them will definitely get more wear than others, but I won’t be too broken hearted if this palette gets tossed with some shades never hitting pan. I mostly purchased this palette to try out more products from the BYS brand and hope they eventually add another creme blush palette with other shade options! That said, I’m probably going to be sticking to the occasional blush single from now on when in the creme form.I’m really looking forward to making some progress this year when it comes to using up my makeup collection! Between being so sick for much of 2020 and my makeup collection upstairs and not the easiest for me to access at the moment, there were far too many cosmetic-free days last year! Thankfully the hubby helped me with the stairs last week so I could go through my stash and bring down an assortment while I am stuck downstairs for the time being, not just this set to work through for the year.Have you made any cosmetic goals for yourself this year? I’d love to hear what you’re working on!Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful evening!XO!Connect with me on Social Media!
