While we all love the bling, it can be a pain to remove. Oh, and it can be known to eat topcoat which leaves texture on the nail after it dries. If you are especially sensitive to feeling your polish, make sure your topcoat is a thick one, or apply a second coat of a thinner one. Instead of applying 2 coats of thick topcoat, several indie brands have come out with a product that you use after your last coat of polish and before your topcoat. These are generally thick and “fill in” the gaps left from the glitter. Here are several products I use and recommend (in no particular order):2. Gelous from American Classics 3. Smooth from Painted Phalanges (dries with a matte finish unlike the others)6. Smooth and Shine Duo from Esmaltes da Kelly (available through Polish Pickup some months)To use these glitter grabbing topcoats, it’s best to let the polish to dry for several minutes before applying. If you apply the glitter grabber too quickly, the nail polish can eat up the glitter grabber a little, making the polish continue to have a little texture, even after the addition of a quick-dry topcoat. Using it this way requires a little more patience, but it’s totally worth it. I also use peel-off basecoats to make removal a breeze. I recommend UNT Ready for Take Off, Hit the Bottle Keepin’ it Peel, or Black Dahlia Lacquer as they all work well (I am not affiliated with any site or brand…I’m just sharing the love). The UNT works better for my body chemistry as the Hit the Bottle will sometimes pop off during the day. It seems like the UNT has been harder to find lately, so there’s always the Holo Taco one if you really need one. If you want your polish to last a little longer, I completely understand. In that case, the foil method will work best for you when you’re ready for a change. Clips like these are cheap and great for keeping the cotton balls in place. I hope this helps, and feel free to email me or leave a comment with any questions you may have.Noodles Nail Polish Beach Squad (2 coats)I’m really glad Beach Squad and the next polish Cozy Cabana are one after another so you can really see the difference in glitters and base color. Beach Squad is more of a cream/off-white crelly base with yellow/orange/magenta/watermelon matte glitters and turquoise holo glitters. As you can see, there are also more smaller glitters in there compared to Cozy Cabana. I expected to need 3 coats for this one, but I found that 2 were plenty for full opacity. It does dry with lots of texture, so follow some of my tips listed above. Noodles Nail Polish Cozy Cabana (2 coats)Large glitter lovers unite! Just look at those huge hexagonal glitters here! Cozy Cabana is a white crelly base with periwinkle/blue/watermelon matte glitters and gold holo glitters in various hexagonal glitter sizes. I just love this one, and it’s definitely a top pick from the collection. I again expected this one to be a 3-coater, but only 2 were needed. It does dry with texture, so get that glitter grabber out. Noodles Nail Polish Mermaid at Heart (3 coats)Just looking at Mermaid at Heart, you know it’s a top pick for me. Give me a contrasting shimmer and I’m all in. It’s a semi-sheer purple crelly base with indigo/blue/green color-shifting shimmer, holo flakes, and blue iridescent glitters. Purple and blue are the main colors that catch my eye with this one. This one is indeed more on the sheer side, so a full 3 coats were needed to fully cover the nail. I don’t think this one dried with quite as much texture because it has a lot of shimmer and flakes and fewer glitters. Noodles Nail Polish Shave Ice (1 coat ) over 2 coats of Zoya SorayaYup, 2 top picks in a row. Shave Ice is the first of 2 glitter toppers, and is a clear-based flakie glitter with round neon glitters in pink/orange/green/blue, silver holo glitters, and a fine sprinkling of color-shifting rainbow flakes. I love round glitters. I love neon glitters. I especially love round neon glitters. This one would work well with lots of base colors, or wear it on its own for a fun look. I don’t think it will be fully opaque in 3 coats, but it would certainly be a party on the nails. This one dries with texture, but you only need 1 coat of this polish for an even coating on the nails. I think dabbing this one on works best for the application (and put that bottle upside down for about 20 minutes before applying for maximum glitter payload). Noodles Nail Polish Sun Bum (1 coat) over 2 coats of Zoya Pluto When I looked at Sun Bum in the bottle, I was expecting it to be in-your-face yellow, but as you can see, on the nail, the flakes really come out to play. When picking out my base color for this one, I was hoping for a “sun in the sky” color combination. Can you see it now? Sun Bum is the second glitter topper that has copper/gold/green color shifting flakes, gold holo, and yellow/peach matte glitters, and a touch of gold microflakies. It had a nice glitter density, so 1 coat was plenty over the Zoya blue base. Tropi-cool is the second polish with large circular glitter, and I’m loving it. It’s described as a turquoise semi-sheer crelly base with white/lime glitters, and a touch of gold holo glitters in circular and hexagonal shapes. To my eye, I find this a bit more green than turquoise, but it could totally be from the lime glitters throwing my eye off. Despite being described as a semi-sheer, I used 2 coats for my swatches, and this one also dries with lots of texture. Since it has larger glitter, I’d put the bottle upside down for 20 minutes before applying to get as many large circular glitters as possible. Last, but certainly not least we have Under the Boardwalk which is described as a soft periwinkle crelly base with watermelon/magenta/periwinkle matte glitters and lavender holo glitters in hexagonal shapes. My eye is seeing this more as a lavender as I find periwinkle to have more blue than I’m seeing here. Color is so subjective, so I just wanted to throw my 2 cents as to what I’m seeing in person. I absolutely adore the combination of the watermelon and purple together. I would have never put them together, but Natalie always works her magic. There you have it, folks! Don’t forget, this will go live this Saturday instead of the usual Friday, so mark your calendars. My top picks from the collection have to be Cozy Cabana, Shave Ice, and Mermaid at Heart, but you can’t go wrong with any of them. Which ones are your favorites? You can find out more about Noodles Nail Polish on their website, Instagram page, Facebook page, and Facebook Fan Group. *These polishes were provided by the company or PR representative.
