There’s a new layer to the Cyrus family drama—and it’s quite the bombshell. According to multiple sources, Noah Cyrus, Dominic Purcell, and Tish Cyrus were in a bit of a love triangle before the Prison Break actor married the singer’s mother.
A source who spoke to People claimed that Noah and Dominic were hooking up before he got into a relationship with her mother. “Noah and Dominic were seeing each other in a friends with benefits way, off and on. They stopped seeing each other and then Tish started something up,” the source shared, noting that “Tish knew he had been seeing Noah.”
According to the insider, Noah was “offended” by her mother’s decision to date the actor despite knowing about their previous relationship. “Tish never gave Noah the chance to talk about all of this before they got married,” the source added.
While another source told Entertainment Tonight that Noah’s mom “did not steal” the actor from her daughter, she allegedly pursued him without her daughter’s knowledge. “Noah stopped seeing Dominic and Tish decided to pursue him and did not tell Noah,” ET’s source told the outlet.
News of this love triangle comes amid ongoing reports of a feud within the Cyrus family. The rumored rift started after Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus’ divorce in 2022. According to Us Weekly, the former couple—who got married in 1993 and share daughters Brandi, Miley, and Noah, along with sons Trace and Braison—are reportedly no longer on speaking terms. “There’s nothing left to say, and they both harbor resentment,” an insider shared.

The rumored tensions seemed really to boil over when Tish got remarried to Dominic Purcell in August 2023. Miley and her older siblings, Trace and Brandi, were both in attendance at the ceremony. However, Noah and brother Braison were noticeably absent from the nuptials. According to Us Weekly’s source, Noah and Braison were both invited to Tish’s wedding, but “opted not to go.” The source shared, “It’s no secret neither of them approves of Dominic, and that’s created tension with their mom.” Given the latest developments, it’s easy to understand why. But it’s possible that there’s even more to the story.
According to the source who spoke to ET about Noah and Dominic’s past relationship, it was Tish who didn’t want Noah and Braison at her wedding. “Tish was the one who did not invite Noah and Braison to her wedding, and blocked them on Instagram after she pursued Dominic,” the insider alleged, adding, “it was Tish who requested security at her wedding to keep Noah and Braison out.”
Tish and Dominic’s wedding took place at Miley’s home in Malibu, California. According to ET’s source, Miley had “no idea” about her sister’s previous relationship with her mom’s new husband, though she has remained supportive of her mother following her divorce from her dad, Billy Ray. Noah, on the other hand, is said to be standing by her father’s side. “Noah is very loyal to Billy Ray,” a source recently told People. “She and Billy Ray have always had a really close relationship.”
After their separation, Tish and Billy Ray issued a statement about their decision to call it quits. “It is after 30 years, five amazing children and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways — not with sadness, but with love in our hearts,” their statement began. “We have grown up together, raised a family we can be so proud of, and it is now time to create our own paths.”
“We will always be family and look forward to a continued and loving shared experience as friends and parents,” the statement continued. “We have not come to this decision lightly or quickly but with so much going on in the world, we wanted to provide some clarity and closure, so we can remain focused on what is important.
