The selection for wide calf boots has certainly improved over the years, but it’s still smaller than what is available for “standard” calves. And no matter what size I’m wearing, I always need to have a wide calf boot.
I’ve had a lot of success with Sam Edelman boots, as they make great wide calf options, but recently I got a pair of Rothy’s Lug Sole Knee High Boots and fell in love.
My mom bought these first and told me about them, and I was resistant right out of the gate. They weren’t wide calf boots, so I didn’t even give them a single thought. She convinced me that they were stretchy, and I tried them on at her house. As it turns out, she was right! They were extremely stretchy in the shaft, so they were an option for me!
Rothy’s recommended ordering a size down as they run big, which I would agree with. I went down a half size and feel that is a better fit. If you love to wear thick socks, though, I would take your regular size.
I’m so pleased to have a nice chocolate brown pair of boots that works with my athletic calves, and I love their casual style that ensures they go with leggings or a dressier outfit!
If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly wide calf boot, check out DSW! I also have these wide calf boots from a few years ago that I love, and they are about $160.00!
