King Charles Wants Better Relationship with Prince Harry’s Kids, Archie & Lilibet

Family matters. King Charles wants to make amends with Prince Harry and his children. With his health in the spotlight, sources say that the monarch is reevaluating his relationship with his grandchildren.

The Mirror reported that his fraught connection with Prince Harry’s children, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 2, gives him “great sadness.” “That is why he will never break ties with Harry,” the source said. “He does not want a FaceTime relationship with his son’s children. He wants to know them and be involved with their lives while they are still young enough to be able to learn from his wisdom. His cancer has made it all the more poignant to him as he knows that he won’t be around forever.”

With Lilibet’s birthday recently passing, sources revealed the monarch sent Lili a “heartfelt gift and card.” A source added King Charles would do anything to keep his relationship with his kin afloat. “The King is absolutely committed to being present in all of his grandchildren’s lives,” the source said. “He values family above everything and whatever the course of his relationship with his son he would never be content with just seeing his grandchildren on the odd video call.”Charles met Lilibet only once when the Sussexes were back in England for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Meanwhile, Archie has only met Charles only a handful of times.

However, things are up in the air King Charles kicked Prince Harry and Meghan Markle out of their UK home in Frogmore Cottage. Royal commentator Tom Quinn reported to The New York Post that the Harry & Meghan producer is “sad” that he no longer has a British address to his name. “Harry is determined to find his own permanent home in the UK, which is partly why he’s continuing his legal action to get the British taxpayer to pay for his security,” the expert said.

King Charles is steadily continuing his cancer treatment but reportedly wants to do more royal duties.  Since his announcement that he was diagnosed in February, sources added that King has a lot of “gratification” in the response to his treatment. However, some are concerned “about his determination to take on so many external engagements.” He returned to public duties on April 26, 2024, and recently gave a long speech at a D-Day celebration.

One friend of the family’s told The Daily Beast: “Of course he should slow down but as anyone who knows him will tell you, he is not going to. He spent 70 years as the first in line to the throne, and he is determined to do the job as best he can for whatever time remains to him. It’s a worry for everyone, because he has made no secret of the fact that he still has cancer and is still getting treated for it, but I think he wants to raise awareness of the reality that cancer is something that a lot of people live with and make the best of.”

They continued, “Morale is a huge factor when you have cancer, and he is making the best of it in his own way. Being king is what he was born to do.”
