Is Emily in Paris canceled?

Emily in Paris isn’t canceled yet. Though there isn’t a confirmed season announcement, there are some signs pointing at a renewal.

On May 23, 2024, Variety reported that Winnie Harlow and Paris Jackson appeared onstage to auction off a walk-on role for the unannounced season 5 of Emily in Paris at the official amfAR auction in Cannes. According to the official amfAR auction website, the walk-on role came “Courtesy of Darren Star,” the creator of the series as well as hits like 90210 and Sex and the City. The website was later updated to state that the winning bid “will have the opportunity to spend a day on set in Paris during filming, contingent upon season 5 pickup.”

Why is Emily In Paris season 4 only 5 episodes?

Good news for fans, Emily in Paris is actually 10 episodes. The series was cut in half by Netflix due to the SAG-AFTRA and Writer’s Guild Strike in 2023. The next half of the season will come out on September 12, 2024.

Darren Star described the process of splitting the season up into two parts to The Hollywood Reporter. Talking about the midseason cliffhanger, he said, “I knew where the story was going. But when I was asked by Netflix to break the season into two parts, I thought, ‘All right, how can I create a nice, mid-season finale that would feel like a season finale?’ So I just directed all the storylines to kind of heat up and reach their boiling point at the end of episode five. So, in a way, creatively, it was helpful, because it gave me a real North Star in terms of where we were going and how these storylines were all colliding and reaching their breaking points.”

As for what’s next in Emily and Gabriel’s love life, Star warns viewers to “Keep waiting. The course of love never goes smoothly. I think there’ll be unexpected obstacles. But more than that, I think as they really get to know each other, they see each other less as fantasies. The infatuation period is over, and it’s about being more realistic about who they are. Like any relationship, you have your romantic fantasy period, and then you have reality.”
