It has interview transcripts, typed up notes, handwritten post-its, which give the book a fun visual feel. Of course, we needed to find a different way to get the information across on the screen, everything needed to come to life.”
Cogan added that another obstacle was figuring out what they should leave out. “We’ve only got six 45-minute episodes, and there’s a lot of material in the book so it was about honing that, figuring out what was okay to leave out and what we needed to keep. It was a challenge, but Holly was really helpful with this.”

What Is A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder about? Based on Holly Jackson’s novel of the same name, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder follows teenager Pip Fitz-Amobi during the Summer holiday. Pip is researching an unusual school project which revolves around the disappearance of schoolgirl named Andie Bell, who went missing five years prior in Little Kilton.
Andie’s boyfriend, Sal Singh, sent a text confessing to the murder before being found dead, allegedly taking his own life. Because Andie’s body was never recovered, the case was closed. In A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Pip is now determined to prove Sal’s innocence.
“It keeps you on your toes the whole time,” Myers revealed in a June 27 interview with NME. “I remember feeling stressed reading the series of books. My heart was racing and Holly Jackson’s really good at leaving you on cliffhangers and thinking you have it figured out but you actually don’t, and the adaptation keeps the same suspense the whole way through.”
The actress also revealed that she feels like she has more in common with Pip than her Wednesday character, Enid. “I’m not as smart as Pip is, but our personalities are somewhat similar, so I felt a connection with her when I read the books.”
