Gigi Hadid and Suki Waterhouse were once friends, having moved in similar social circles for years. But apparently Suki’s comments regarding her breakup with Bradley Cooper—Gigi’s current boyfriend—have rubbed the supermodel up the wrong way.
Suki and Bradley dated for two years from 2013 to 2015 and their age gap was considerable: He was 38 while she was 21. Their relationship launched her into the world of the tabloids and when they broke up, speculation was rife.
The explanation, via sources, was that they were in two different places, though neither commented publicly on their split. In an interview with British Vogue, Suki made a rare comment on their relationship, hinting at the real reason.
“I really will say that I’m pretty strong at this point, but when something very public happens to you and the story behind it is dark and difficult, and you’re actually not doing well, and you can’t explain yourself to the world, that’s very isolating and disorientating,” she said.
“Your 20s are pretty sadistic,” she continued. “The love I experienced [then] was only ever a fetishization, and I think when you only get loved in that way, you only get punished. When you get into your 30s you’re almost instantly afforded a little bit more respect. It’s kind of delightful and shocking at the same time.”
Gigi, who’s been romantically linked to Bradley since October 2023, is reportedly “furious” at Suki for the comments. “They’ve fallen out and there’s no indication that things will ever be the same for them,” a source told Life&Style. “Gigi is totally team Bradley and taking this up as her own cause. She isn’t about to let this go.” The insider added: “Suki spoke her truth. If Gigi doesn’t like it, that’s her problem.”
