Colourpop So Juicy Plumping Gloss Balm are a new, affordable version of Tarte’s Maracuja Juicy Lip Gloss Balm. These new lipgloss balm hybrids give lips a slick, shiny look with hydrating ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid and Tucuma Butter and promise add volume to lips for a plumped up plush look. Tarte has quite a bit of competition lately with the launch of these as well as E.L.F.’s new Pout Clout Lip Plumping Pens and the NYX Fat Oil Slick Click Lip Balm. I really liked the NYX ones but wasn’t a fan of the E.L.F. but by far by favorite of these budget versions is the Colourpop So Juicy Plumping Gloss Balm!
Colourpop So Juicy Plumping Gloss Balm are $10 each and 0.07 oz each versus the NYX ones are is 0.07 oz in size and $11 and the E.L.F. are $8 at the same size. If you’re comparing sizes and price to Tarte’s version those are $24 and 0.095 oz in size. All three come in a click up pen for easy application!
The NYX Fat Oil Slick Click Lip Balms are more of a balmy consistency have a lot less shine compared to this formula. Where as the E.L.F. match the highly glossy finish of this formula but I thought Colourpop’s formula applied a lot better than the E.L.F. one. These are SUPER soft and melty quite a good deal more so than the E.L.F. and Tarte formula. I highly recommending clicking the smallest amount up, apply, and if you need more go ahead and click again! If you click up the product too much it can break easily due to the consistency being so soft and easy to melt. They are definitely not safe for travel in a warmer environment as they will melt.

As I said above they do apply a lot better than the E.L.F. version. They smooth onto lips like melted butter and leave behind beautiful color and gorgeous shine. They’re super hydrating as well and keep lips pleasantly moist throughout the wear. Unfortunately, do to the soft, melty formula they do wear a shorter time at around two hours or so before they wear away. I did notice they tended to migrate around my lip line a bit and ended up creeping over a time or two. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice any plumping action with these. The formula is pretty thick so that give lips a plush look but I wouldn’t say these act to plump lips up! I experienced no tingle nor burn when using them and they did have a soft vanilla flavor but I didn’t notice a fragrance!
I liked the Colourpop So Juicy Plumping Gloss Balm a lot but they aren’t without fault like the NYX version the formula is a bit too soft and melty making the wear time shorter and movement around your lip line is likely because of that formula. They do offer excellent shine, moisture, and color but the color catalog available isn’t nearly as flattering as the Tarte’s version. I do wish the nudes they had available were a bit more flattering.
All in all, Colour So Juicy Plumping Gloss Balm is a nice formula but not without some issues.
