John Mulaney announced that he married Olivia Munn right before his ex-wife Anna Marie Tendler released her new memoir. Tendler’s highly anticipated book Men Have Called Her Crazy was released on August 13, 2024.
The book discusses Tendler’s relationship to men—from her teenagehood to adult life. In an interview with The New York Times, she revealed that she was initially “frustrated by the assumption that her memoir would focus on her divorce from Mulaney.” She had later learned from experience that she had no control over what people would speculate about. The newspaper added that she wanted to write “more universal than her celebrity relationship, she said: the ways in which men underestimate and sideline women.”

Tendler and Mulaney were married from 2014 to 2021. They announced their divorce after they both checked into separate rehabs. They announced their divorce in May 2021 after seven years of marriage. “I am heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage. “I wish him support and success as he continues his recovery.” Tendler told Page Six in a statement at the time.
Mulaney said in a statement via his rep, “John will not have any further comment as he continues to focus on his recovery and getting back to work.” In an interview on Late Night With Seth Meyers on September 7, 2021, Mulaney revealed that his girlfriend, Olivia Munn, is pregnant with their first child. Their son, Malcolm, was born on November 24, 2021.
Yendler added that the parasocial aspect of her ex’s jokes about her affected her outlook on revealing her personal life, “I think a lot of this has to do with the age of social media, but people feel like they know someone from fairly small amounts of information,” she told NYT. “That phenomenon kind of scares me.” In the same interview, Tendler revealed that she shared the memoir to three of her exes, and declined to answer if she shared it with Mulaney. She is currently in a private relationship with her boyfriend of seven months.
An excerpt of the book via Elle explains an instance when she checked into rehab. A nurse said, “I’ve communicated to them that you are distrustful of men and that it’s important for the female social worker to regularly check in with you.”

On the week of the release, Tendler made an Instagram story saying, “I hope this week is nice and sweet for me this week.” She then pointed out the turbulent astrology this week with a series of random and threatening emojis.
Just the night before, John Mulaney went on Late Night With Seth Meyers on August 12, 2024, to talk about his relationship with Olivia Munn and her Vietnamese family. “I got married. Thanks a lot. It’s the best,” the comedian revealed. When Meyers asked about life with his in-laws, he said, “It’s the greatest single time in my life. I’ve been in a lot of interesting situations, but marrying into a large Vietnamese family is one of the most fun things I’ve ever done. They’re the best, man.”
