KISS Salon X-tend LED Soft Gel System Review: One Editor’s Honest Thoughts

I’ve never been one to be that interested in press-on nails. I’ve often found many of the designs out there to be tacky, and I didn’t care to deal with certain nails popping off at random moments (like during a meal at a restaurant, in the back of an Uber, and other inconvenient times—all of which have happened to me, FYI). But all it took was one try of the KISS Salon X-tend LED Soft Gel System to completely change my mind—and now I can’t stop wearing press-ons.

This isn’t your local CVS press-on nail kit. The starter kits come with everything needed to create a salon-worthy manicure that lasts up to 14 days (my first set lasted even longer), including an LED lamp to really cement their longevity. Best of all, you don’t need to be a nail pro to master an application. Each kit has a decent assortment of nail sizes to accommodate varying nail beds that are super easy to work with; you can cut and file them to your preferred length without ruining the nails. Plus, all 18 available designs and colors are incredibly cute and polished (no tackiness in sight!) and start at $10.

While I’ve tried a few different shapes and finishes so far, the Satellite design is by far my favorite. After picking out the perfect nail sizes for my hands, I buffed away any residue or previous lingering polish with the supplied prep pad, added a little bit of glue to the nail and then cured it overtop my natural nails underneath the LED lamp. The pre-sculpted glitter ombre silver nail comes in a shorter length and coffin shape, but I clipped and filed them down to my preferred look. During curing, you can feel the fake nail immediately harden to your own nails within seconds—and it truly won’t budge for two weeks. Though, if you do want to take them off before the two-week mark, KISS sells an instant false nail remover that won’t cause any damage to your own nails.

Ever since I started wearing these KISS press-on nails, I’ve gotten numerous compliments from friends. They look incredibly professional, since they adhere to your nails in a very natural way. While you certainly don’t need a special occasion to wear them, I’ve utilized the kits for my own birthday celebration and even for a friends wedding. I mean, the kit is far cheaper than visiting the salon and gives just as good results.

Prices for each nail design starts at $10 (the LED lamp is sold separately in the starter kit) which is an absolute steal considering how much something similar would cost in the hands of a professional.
