E.L.F. Cosmetics Sun Boss Gloss is a new Summer 2024 Lipgloss Collection that contains SPF 25. This latest collection promises color, high shine, and a moisturizing formula that contains a mineral sunscreen to help protect lips in the hot Summer sun. Lipglosses rarely contain SPF! I mean, we have a ton of lip balm formulas that do but not glosses, and that makes this new E.L.F. Sun Boss Gloss unique, although I do think they were trying to go with an InnBeauty Sun Balm SPF 30 dupe with this formula because we all know E.L.F. loves a good duping moment.
E.L.F. Cosmetics Sun Boss Gloss SPF 25 is available in five shade selections for $7 each and is 0.13 oz each. They come in a circular barrel with a basic sponge applicator for application. The price is quite nice considering E.L.F. prices have gone up dramatically since the $1 days of old. $7 bucks keep things nice and budget-friendly. Sadly, their performance leaves a lot to be desired, so I’d say they are on the $4-$5 scale because of that.
These are unique due to the high level of sunscreen in the formula. As I mentioned above, we have tons of lip balm options that contain SPF but very few lipgloss ones. E.L.F. gets props for injecting lipgloss with sunscreen. The gloss is formulated with zinc oxide to provide sun protection.
The glosses are pigmented and have a gorgeous suntan oil scent and flavor. It’s sort of a tropical coconut scent, but it reminded me of the smell of a Banana Boat! It’s quite a nice scent that brings a touch of Summer to your lipgloss application. I loved the scent, and the flavor wasn’t bitter either. The glosses are vegan and cruelty-free, as well.
I’m having a difficult time deciding if the gloss formula is dry or if it’s just the sponge applicator. I always felt like NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip Lip Gloss would be such a great formula, but they lost me with the applicator. I feel a bit the same with Sun Boss Gloss. Is it a good formula with a crummy applicator? Or is it a crummy formula, period?

The gloss felt very dry, and I had to pump the wand up and down a few times to get the sponge applicator loaded with gloss. I had to add several layers of gloss to my lips because the first layer dragged color all around my lips in a streaky way. You need at least three to four good layers for it to look not only shiny but also smooth. It looks great if you get a good layer on your lips but a single layer looks awful! It made my lips look plush and full and had a decent shine with about four layers of it in place.. It’s frustrating to get it on evenly and smoothly, as it drags quite a bit during the application. All three shades I purchased are pigmented and wore for around four hours. They have a slight tackiness but nothing too sticky or uncomfortable to wear. The formula is creamy but I just wish it was a bit creamier and hydrating maybe a little more thin and emollient too so it would apply more easier than it currently does.
E.L.F. Cosmetics Sun Boss Gloss SPF 25 isn’t the best lipgloss formula I’ve tried, but it isn’t the worst. The colors are lovely, and they wear long. The application is what ruins these a bit, but if you put in a little TLC, you can get a nice look from them!

E.L.F. Cosmetics Sun Boss Gloss SPF 25 is a new, affordable lipgloss collection that features a mineral SPF 25. This formula has 10% zinc oxidize that protects lips in the sun. The glosses are available in five shades and they are $7 each for 0.13 oz of product. I thought they were super pigmented and made lips look full and plump without being sticky. Sadly, I’m unsure if the gloss formula is rubbish or if it’s just the applicator as I experienced very draggy, dry application from them. I did have to pump the wand into the barrel a few times to get the sponge saturated well with gloss and had to apply three to four layers of the gloss for it to look smooth. It isn’t super shiny but did have a hint of glossiness to it when layered well. They wear for around four to five hours and I experienced no feathering or migration through that wear.ACTIVE INGREDIENTSzinc oxide 10.0%,
