5 Indie Bath and Body Brands You Need to Know

Hello, Hex Squad! Today I’m sharing 5 indie bath and body brands you need to know.  Technically, I mention a few extras because one brand is currently closed. These indie brands carry perfume, candles, body lotion, dry oil spray, as well as hair care products, skin care, and other cool items.
I’m a gourmand scent lover. I prefer sexy foodie scents or vanilla scents for layering. On occasion, I shake things up with a more masculine scent that includes teakwood and leather, or a smoky note. Those can be very overpowering to some people though, so I tend to break those out in the Fall.
Cocoa Pink

Cocoa Pink is my favorite of these indie bath and body brands. They offer a wide array of amazing perfume scents, and you can select any scent for their products. Their offerings are divided into a general catalogue, along with seasonal Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer scents. This year, the transition from Summer to Fall scents occurs on September 2, 2024.
Products Offered

Cocoa Pink boasts a delightful range of products, including perfume sprays, rollerballs, and atomizers. Their body care line features voluptuous and coco mango body butters, goat milk and honey lotions, and various scrubs and oils. They also offer deodorant, linen spray, multiple shampoos, and conditioners like Shine+ silicone-free and Shine Sweetie. For specialized hair care, their Argan Therapy Creme conditioner, replenishing serum, and Ends with Argan Benefits are standout choices. They even provide Glissade and sample vials for those wanting to explore their scents.

My Favorite Cocoa Pink Scents
My current favorite scents from Cocoa Pink are:

Black Cherry Upside Down Cake – White cake, pound cake batter, mounds of marshmallow fluff frosting and finished off with juicy wild black cherries.
Cinderella’s Carriage – Coconut Cream Pie with Marshmallow Meringue, Sweet Pumpkin, Spiritueuse Double Vanilla, and Vanilla Bean Noel.
Bonfire Pumpkins – Pumpkin porridge with Marshmallow Fireside and created a sensational creamy bonfire scent with notes of maple oats drizzled with pure golden clover honey, a pinch of muscovado sugar, sugared pumpkin puree, toasted vanilla marshmallows over a roaring fire. This is a smoky scent.
Pina Colada Cotton Candy – Cotton candy with coconut and pineapple blended in rich cream and sugar.
Hawaiian Cake – Three tiered wedding cake topped with buttercream frosting, crushed pineapple and flaky coconut.
Poison Caramel Apple – Toasted caramel sugar and juicy red apples slapped with a naughty helping of dreamy vanilla musk. (discontinued)

I primarily use Cocoa Pink perfume sprays, perfume rollerballs, perfume atomizers, dry oil spray, and Ends with Argan Benefits.
Right now, I’m waiting on an order of Ends with Argan Benefits in the following scents:

Black Cherry Upside Down Cake – delicious cherries, cake and marshmallows, yum
Blood Orange Cotton Candy – 100% real Blood Orange EO mixed with sweet sugar spun cotton candy.
Thai Rolled Iced Cream – Madagascar vanilla beans, sweet cream, golden honeycomb, delicate hints of cardamom topped with sugared pralines, drizzled with warm sea salt caramel.
Tokyo Market – spun strawberry sugar, Japanese plum, blood orange, white cake and black vanilla bean infused buttercream icing.

I’m hoping to love the new scents I ordered with blood orange.
My Favorite Products from Cocoa Pink
It’s hard to chose favorites from Cocoa Pink because I love so many things but especially their perfumes, dry oil body spray, and Ends with Argan Benefits hair oil spray.
What I love about the Cocoa Pink dry oil body spray is that it immediately hydrates my skin and absorbs quickly. There’s no residue left of any sort, just silky smooth skin and a lovely soft scent. As someone with tactile issues, this dry oil body spray is a skin saver!
I love the perfumes because you can customize the strength of the scent you want. I typically choose smell me from across town.
And I adore the hair oil spray because it adds moisture and shine, while detangling my hair.
As a small indie bath and body brand, they state their turn around time on their webpage. It can take a while but they always deliver. Cocoa Pink often has an early Black Friday sale too.

VIP provides essential services and education for victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and other serious crimes. It’s truly inspiring when indie bath and body brands give back to help their local communities.
Additionally, I love that all of the A Girl’s Gotta Spa! perfume names are uplifting and empowering.

My Favorite Products from Bohemian Rêves
Bohemian Rêves makes so many products that I love including their parfum rollers, incense sticks, and candles. Their store in St. Pete has the best vibes.
The incense sticks burn around an hour and fifteen minutes, making them ideal for yoga, rituals, or meditation.
The parfum rollers are very subtle and don’t have a strong throw, so you can only smell them on me if you give me a hug. Their candles are fantastic.
I plan to buy the Bohemian Rêves Palo Santo smudge spray, Cardamom + Tobacco parfum rollerball, and Mary Jane Fever and Cardamom + Tobacco hand rolled botanical incense sticks next time I visit their store.
Burke & Hare Co

Burke & Hare Co was one of the first gothic themed indie bath and body brands started in 2011. I adore their candles and perfumes. I fell in love with Nevermore and kept coming back to try more. They seldom disappoint!

Pumpkin Carving – hot cider, autumn spices, pumpkin pie and whipped cream
Eros – dark chocolate, almond, clove

My Favorite Products from Burke & Hare Co

Rollerball perfumes and candles are my favorite products from from Burke & Hare Co.
Nevermore is the most masculine scent I can wear and still enjoy with my personal body chemistry. I’m obsessed over the teakwood and leather combination. I love the smell of teakwood, but it can be very hard to find, in my experience.
I’m very curious to try the following scents:

Wednesday – tart citrus and fresh ginger before revealing a more sophisticated base of tonka bean, temple incense and just a slight touch of amber.
Midnight – green apple and fig followed by ginger and a base of crisp leaves, citrus rind and pine needle.
Cloves – the beloved scent of cloves.

Dossier

I also want to highlight the brand Dossier as a bonus brand. Based in New York, Dossier offers luxury fragrances at affordable prices. Their scents are clean, ethically sourced, long-lasting, and simply smell fantastic. Plus, all their products are cruelty-free and vegan. They even use recyclable, environmentally friendly materials for their packaging. I’ve purchased from Dossier several times and have loved gifting their fragrances too!

How to Store Perfume to Help it Last
I store all my perfumes in a cool, dark closet on a shelf untouched by light to ensure they last as long as possible. My olfactory expert friends have always emphasized the importance of keeping perfumes in the dark and away from extreme temperature changes to preserve their quality. Some of my friends opt to keep their fragrances in a nightstand drawer or a box under the bed. Protecting your perfumes from direct light is key to extending their lifespan.
Final Thoughts
If you’ve ever been tempted to try some awesome handmade brands, I recommend trying one of these indie bath and body brands. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with them. They’re great for building gift baskets for loved ones for birthdays, Christmas, or any other occasion you want to celebrate. I love that I can pick out specific, unique scents for hair, body wash, dry oil sprays and more.
What do you think of my top indie bath and body brands?
